Meet the Team!

Wesleigh: Hey everyone! I'm Wesleigh (Wes-lee) :) I love life. A lot. It's sad to realized how short life really is, but instead of getting sad, I realize how great life is and tell myself that I'm going to live it to the fullest. I will make my dreams come true. I will have adventures. I will live a great story. Great story to me means that I will live a meaningful and great life. To live a great story, doesn't mean just the big things, but the small things too like spending time with family and friends, sharing my smile for everyone to see, having adventures, and taking every opportunity I have to serve and making every day count. My life can and will be great because life itself is a great adventure and the best one you'll ever have. Join me on my adventure to live a better story and let's get going! :)

Sanneke: Hi all! My name is Sanneke (say it like Sanica) and I am so very excited to be part of this adventure with you! I've always loved watching, reading to and listening to stories of people who take their lives in their hands and become heroes in their own little adventure. The best part about those stories is that they're just reflections of what we can do and be and become in our own lives.

My favourite story of all time is the Lord of the Rings. There's so much to it, but essentially the story is about a young hobbit named Frodo who chooses to leave his ideal world of comforts, family and good friends to do something for the good of all people. Through his journey he learns so much about himself and the world. He defies the belief that little people can't do anything truly great and becomes a hero through his sacrifice and his courage. To me, this is a story about an ordinary person who chose to live an extraordinary story. Frodo wasn't seeking fame or popularity. All he knew is that he had an opportunity to do good, and because he could he did.

Likewise, I want to be an ordinary person living an extraordinary story. I won't save the world or destroy a secret weapon or ride on eagles or battle orcs (though I must say that learning to swordfight is definitely on my bucket list), but I can do the little things that take courage. I can live each moment with joy and gratitude, enjoy each new sunrise, listen to the birds and the wind and the trees, smile with friends and family, and just be me. I can do what's right, even when it's challenging. And I can lend a hand to all who need help on their own adventure. This is what living a better story means to me, and this is who I want to be.

Julia: Hey everybody! I'm Julia. I'm thrilled to be a part of the adventure of Path to Awesome with all of you.

I believe that stories are some of the most powerful things we have. We write stories, we read stories, we learn from stories, and most importantly, we are stories. I see each individual life as a chapter in the great, big, beautiful book we call "Mankind". The best part about our stories is that we can write our own! It is so wonderful to know that we have the power to choose the the plot paths of our stories; we can take the path to average, or the path to awesome. 

To me, living a better story is a lot like ascending a rope; to get to the top and achieve satisfaction, you have to give it all you got. In life, it's all or nothing--and when we give our all, our stories become those beautiful, adventurous, precious contributions to the world. And I plan to give my all.
